Working with pupils from the three local primary schools and Newbattle Community High School, Chris has been co-ordinating the community wall, which will on display at the side of the road between the Shell garage and Newbattle Medical Practice.

He said: “I have themed it around the gala day. I am now working back into the mural with reference to the pictures I took at the gala day. So you might see yourself or someone you know on the wall.

“We are hoping to unveil it on December 10. We are trying to get it on the wall before the Christmas period.”

The £20,000 project was commissioned by the community council and funded by Big Lottery, the Coalfields Regeneration Trust and local councillor Peter De Vink’s (Indp)community enhancement fund.
