One of the world’s richest men visited Midlothian last week to find out first hand the pioneering research work being carried out by local scientists.
Bill Gates toured Edinburgh University’s Easter Bush Campus to hear about projects to improve the health and welfare of people and farm animals worldwide.
The renowned businessman and philanthropist was visiting in his capacity as co-chairman of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The organisation is focusing on agricultural development and research to improve farming productivity in a sustainable way.
