Bogus caller targets Dalkeith pensioner

Police are appealing for information after a bogus caller incident in Dalkeith on Friday, June 17.

A woman tricked her way into the home of a 67-year-old man at Esk Place around 5.30pm, asking for a drink of water.

After she left the householder found that £80 had been stolen from his wallet.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information to please get in contact.

The woman is described as being white, in her early 20s and wearing a black, belted jacket and a dark cap or hat.

Sergeant Bryan Jones of Dalkeith Police Station’ said: “These bogus caller crimes can have a devastating effect on the well-being of the victims and we are keen to trace the individual responsible as soon as possible.”

Anyone who has any information that may help identify the female is asked to get in touch.
