Police Scotland carried out a second day of action today targeting suspects for housebreakings and associated offences across Midlothian and East Lothian.

Two women from Prestonpans and Bonnyrigg were arrested and charged in connection with a theft by housebreaking in Bonnyrigg and a further man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with a theft by housebreaking in Dalkeith.

Chief Inspector Kenny Simpson, Local Area Commander for Midlothian said; “Housebreaking is a heartless crime - it violates the victim’s sense of security.

“Tackling housebreaking is a top priority for Lothians and Scottish Borders police and this Operation RAC activity over the past two days targeted those who perpetrate the crimes.

“We will carry on relentlessly pursuing those individuals who undertake housebreaking and will continue to bring them to justice.”
