Bonnyrigg dog attack kills pet cat

A Danderhall nurse has described a sickening dog attack that left her pet cat dying and her forearm covered in puncture wounds.

Bonnyrigg resident Krys Thomson (60), a medical nurse at Danderhall Medical Practice, was in the rear garden of her Chester’s View home when the drama unfolded.

Taking rubbish to a recycling bin, her attention was drawn to a low, moaning noise and movement behind a slatted fence. Her garden backs on to the popular Penicuik to Bonnyrigg Railway Walk.

On closer investigation, she realised, much to her horror, that a Whippet-type dog was mauling her two-and-a-half year-old cat Ollie.

She explained: “When I tried to pick him up the dog sank its teeth into my arm, leaving deep puncture marks. There was blood spurting everywhere, it was awful.
