A cyclist who died in a road traffic collision in Roslin Glen on Friday has been named by police.

Dr Stephen Churcher (46), from Bonnyrigg, was cycling near the entrance to Roslin Glen Country Park at around 5.30pm when his bike collided with a silver Renault Megane Scenic.

The vehicle had left the road before coming to rest 20ft down an embankment. It’s two occupants, a woman and a child, were cut free by firefighters using hydraulic cutting gear.

Dr Churcher’s family have described him as “A family man, keen cyclist and canoeist who loved the outdoors. He leaves behind a wife and two children and will be sadly missed.”
