Bonnyrigg Rose committee member dies during match

Tributes have been flooding in after a committee member at Bonnyrigg Rose collapsed and died during a match at Linlithgow.

The game on Wednesday (May 22) was abandoned when committee member Craig Devine collapsed.

The club has released the following statement: “On behalf of the committee and friends of Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic FC, we would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Craig Devine, who sadly passed away at our fixture at Linlithgow Rose FC.

“As a committee man and person, he will be sorely missed, both inside the club and the wider community as a whole. The tributes the club have received from players, both present and past and from clubs local and further afield, show the esteem and regard that Craig held within the game.

“The club would like to thank both Linlithgow Rose FC and the referee for their assistance and their pragmatism, where a game of football in light of the circumstances becomes insignificant. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
