Bonnyrigg will be buzzing this weekend with the huge anticipation of Saturday’s William Hill Scottish Cup third round tie at New Dundas Park between East Super League champions Bonnyrigg Rose and Senior Championship League side Dumbarton, ko 1.30pm.

The Rose were frustrated by the postponement last Saturday of their third round Scottish Junior Cup tie away at Thorniewood United which now takes a back seat until the Rose deal with Dumbarton.

Last Saturday second bottom of the Scottish Championship League Dumbarton drew 0-0 at home to Raith Rovers.

Penicuik Athletic did get the green light for their home Scottish Junior Cup third round tie against North League’s Scone Thistle with the Midlothian men winning 2-0.

This Saturday Penicuik entertain Premier League’s Glenrothes in a second round tie of the East of Scotland Cup.

But for Arniston Rangers it was a heartbreak 1-0 away Scottish Junior Cup defeat at Renfrew as the Arnie now have to seek to bounce back in the Premier League this Saturday at home to second top Forfar West End, who are three points ahead of fourth top Arniston who have a game in hand.

Arniston won the first meeting with Forfar this season in August by 1-0 and so Arnie look for a commendable league double in Arnie’s 13th league match of the season.

Super League’s Newtongrange Star had been due to visit Broughty this weekend in the Super League but instead Broughty are away to Dundee Downfield in the Scottish Junior Cup after this tie was weather hit last Saturday.

Instead Newtongrange will be at home on Saturday hosting Carnoustie Panmure in the Super League where a Star win would get them off the bottom spot following the Star’s improving 0-0 battling away draw last Saturday at Dundonald Bluebell.

Premier League Dalkeith Thistle produced a stunning 2-0 away win at top of the league Kennoway Star Hearts for whom it was their first home league defeat of the season and Dalkeith’s fifth away league victory in Thistle’s 13th league match of the season.

King’s Park this Saturday now hosts Dalkeith at home to St Andrews United whom Dalkeith beat 3-2 at St Andrews on the very first Saturday of this season with Thistle like Arniston chasing a league double.

Easthouses Lily head to Paties Road on Saturday in the South League following the Lily’s fine home 4-2 win over last Saturday’s visiting Craigroyston at the Newbattle Complex.

The Lily now take on Edinburgh United with whom the Lily share the 19 point mark though Lily have a game in hand.
