Bonnyrigg veteran is in the frame for business

An army veteran from Bonnyrigg has put a number of charities in the frame after they helped him start up his own business.

Picture framer Alastair Skene (31) was struck down with meningitis in January 2010. He was carrying out outward bounds activities with an army youth team when the disease took hold. He remembers waking up with a ‘banging sore head’, and by the afternoon, had been admitted to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, where he spent a month.

During his recovery, the married father of two completed a number of re-skilling courses and gained qualifications to establish his own picture framing business – Skene Framing Ltd.
