A DISCO and karaoke event has raised £2500 for the newly-established Dale Bennett Memorial Fund.
Friends of the Mayfield 17-year-old, who died after allegedly being stabbed in an incident in Gorebridge earlier this year, decided to set up the fund in his memory.
A fundraiser at the Mayfield Inn on Saturday, May 7, saw 140 of Dale’s family and friends gather for an evening of music, dancing and singing.
It was a very emotional night for a lot of people owing to the nature of the cause, however, everyone enjoyed themselves as much as possible and managed to raise £2494.02.
Trustees are being sought to come on board who have experience with running or being involved with a committee to give the teenagers, who are all part of the Y2K youth project in Mayfield, support in running the Memorial Fund.
The group is also appealing for anyone with any photographs of Dale to send them to firstname.lastname@example.org or contact Carole on 07814613396 as the family would love to see them.
