Boost for Midlothian economy

Discussions on how to drive economic recovery in Midlothian are under way after Midlothian Council invited local contractors and trade representatives to air their views on the way forward.

Procurement, recruitment, apprenticeships and skills gaps were top of the agenda at the first of a planned series of recent meetings.

Councillor Jim Bryant (SNP), cabinet member for economic development, said: “We remain in challenging economic times that impact on Midlothian communities and businesses and we must make every effort to ensure that the local economy can continue to take advantage of any opportunities to address potential problems.”
