Midlothian South MSP Christine Grahame (SNP) was delighted to see track laying under way on the Borders rail link recently.
Ms Grahame believes the putting down of track was a real landmark of the project.
She said:“It was very exciting to see the first tracks laid down and it’s good to hear that the project is on time and budget.
“By the end of the year the tracks will connect the seven stations along the route for the first time in 45 years and this will give a massive boost to the region’s economy and restore links for communities which will result in employment, study and social opportunities.”
