This year’s Poltonhall Children’s Gala Day is to be “bigger and better than ever”.
Committee chairman Sharyn Crombie made the comments ahead of the event, on Sunday June 5, to be held in Hopefield Park from 1pm. A week-long programme of events in the run-up to the day included races, a bingo night and girls’ and boys’ football tournaments.
On Friday, June 3, the gala day disco will take place at Poltonhall Community Hall, Hopefield Park, from 7pm to 8.30pm.
The gala parade will leave Polton Mill bus terminus at midday and head towards the park.
Drivers have been asked by the committee to avoid the area between 11.30am and 12.30pm if possible.
Just a small selection of the attractions on offer include a mini-train, sumo wrestling, bouncy castle, go karts and a rodeo bull.
There will also be a Punch and Judy show and Zumba and science displays while staff from Edinburgh Butterfly and Insect World will also be dropping in.
Wrist bands, priced £5, will be available at the entrance of the park and will allow children all day entry to the rides.
There will be plenty of food on offer, including a barbecue to be hosted by St Matthew’s Church.
