A SPECIAL event aims to breathe new life into Gorebridge by boosting business and job opportunities.

Gorebridge Development Trust has decided that the community needs to do something for itself to boost the local economy.

In association with Midlothian Council’s Regeneration Team, it will hold a ‘Gorebridge Jobs and Business Cafe Event’ at the Brown Building on November 7 at 7pm.

A cast of high profile stakeholders have committed to attending, including representatives from Job centre Plus, Midlothian Council, Skills Development Scotland and the Scottish Youth Parliament.

Gorebridge Development Trust manager David Thomas said: “It’s astonishing that this area suffers from such a lack of services and there is high unemployment.

“A lot of youngsters are out of work and I think if you can connect businesses with people then you have got a chance of getting things moving. So this event is aimed at bringing everyone together – the council, the trust, local business and other stakeholders.
