A Newbattle High School pupil is following in her writer mum’s footsteps by having her first book published at the tender age of 12.

Erin Urban’s book ‘My World, My Words’ is a 65-page collection of poems and a short story. It is now available in paperback and as an ebook, attracting rave reviews on facebook and Amazon’s website.

Her mum Lavinia, who wrote the ‘Erin: Fire Goddess’ series, wanted her daughter to have the opportunities she never had as a young writer.

She said: “She has always liked writing, she takes after me. She said she would love to be a published author.

“I tried it at her age as well and it was hard, having to deal with the rejection.

“I ended up giving up on my dream for years. So I thought I should help her.

“And because I’m self published I said I would get the poetry and the short story published.”

‘My World, My Words’ is out now on E-book and paperback, available from Amazon and Smash Words.
