THREE years after Langlaw Primary School was demolished, former pupils have been back on site doing homework of a different kind.

Twelve Mayfield youngsters, representing each class at the new Lawfield Primary, have been visiting the site of the former school to help Melville Housing celebrate the start of work on a project that will deliver 93 much-needed affordable homes.

They joined representatives from the social landlord and Hart Builders on the huge six and a half hectare site (the equivalent of approximately nine standard football pitches) to see for themselves the start of work.

Julie Hunter, head teacher at Lawfield Primary School said: “We are delighted to be involved with this project and were very excited to play a part in the start of work on site.

“Many of our pupils remember the old school so it’s lovely to see the site put to such good use. We all look forward to seeing the new housing take shape.”
