Preparations have begun to recruit a team of Midlothian young people to take part in the Beadazzling Get Ready for Retail project.
The initiative successfully secured £45,000 from the People’s Millions last year through a Midlothian-wide campaign to attract phone votes.
Beadazzling Get Ready for Retail is a year-long initiative to train 15-19 year olds in retail skills.
It aims to improve Midlothian’s poor record of school-leavers moving into long-term unemployment.
Last year we reported that the county had the worst record in Scotland for young people moving onto work, training or education.
