A grandmother from Dalkeith recently jumped out of a plane at 10,000 feet in Australia to raise £1,045 for Motor Neuron Disease Scotland and Heart and Stroke Scotland.
Irene Raine (67), said: “It was brilliant. It took my breath away. The fact that I was doing it for charity was the adrenalin that kept me going.
“My sister-in-law has been diagnosed with Motor Neuron and heart and stroke is in the family. “I want to thank everybody that’s supported me. All my family and friends, and friends of friends. “I did it in Australia as my daughter lives there, and I thought if I’m ever going to do this then it’s best to do it where the weather is better! “They gave me a Scottish flag for my parachute. As they couldn’t believe I had come so far. “And that way everyone on the ground knew it was me.”
