A fundraising group has been set up in Dalkeith to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Formed in December, the Dalkeith Fundraising Group is responsible for events and collections in Midlothian.
Secretary Laura Greig said: “We are local people using local knowledge and contacts to raise awareness of the charity as well as fundraising along the way.
“We aim to create small, fun, family events which will hopefully become annual events.
“There are currently around 15 groups which have been set up, and Marie Curie intend to have 750 up and running nationwide in the next few years.
“One of our group members has been running a fair at the National Mining Museum Scotland. All our members are working on a purely voluntary basis.”
The group has undertaken a Great Daffodil Appeal, and aims to get as many people as possible wearing yellow daffodil pins.
Collections are to take place at Dalkeith town centre this Saturday (10am-4pm) and at Tesco, Hardengreen, on March 30 and 31 (10am-8pm).
