Pentland Hills Chess Club's new season is due to start

The Pentland Hills Chess Club is about to commence its new season on September 6.

The club meets each Tuesday from September to May. Meetings will take place in the Glencorse Centre, 4 Firth Road, Auchendinny, from 7.30pm.

As well as the weekly Tuesday evening meetings, from October the club will have at least two teams competing in the Edinburgh Chess League. Last season the club was successful in winning both the Edinburgh Allegro Chess League and the Edinburgh Summer Cup. The club also played in the Scottish National Chess League. The club runs two internal competitions from October until May; club members can enter one of these.

On September 22 our current club champion, David Begg, will play all those present at the club simultaneously. If you have never played in a simul before this is your chance!

The club offers chess training in the early part of the season for those who wish it. Existing members are of a wide range of chess abilities. New members are most welcome.

For further details about the club please consult the club’s website www.pentlandhillschess.org.uk or contact the club secretary, Terry Purkins, 1 Penicuik Road, Roslin, or on 0131 440 1618.
