An Indian restaurant in Dalkeith has donated a large portion of its rogan dosh to charity.

Award-winning curryhouse Itihaas gifted an entire day’s takings when members of Midlothian Council’s fundraising group were enjoying lunch there.

Boss Matin Khan handed over a cheque for £750 to the group’s campaign to raise money for its two designated charities – Maggie’s Cancer Centres and Cancer Research UK.

Group leader Denice Love said: “It was an amazingly successful event, and we are very grateful to Matin, who put his hand in his own pocket to top up the amount.

“We are particularly pleased to have the support of local businesses. The staff who ate at Itihaas were talking about it for days afterwards, and many of them are already planning to eat there again.”
