A MIDLOTHIAN teenager’s inventive mind has helped him scoop a top design prize.

A contraption devised by Elliot Comnene, from Bonnyrigg, won the UK prize for the 12-16 age group in the Cracking Ideas competition, run by the Intellectual Property Office in collaboration with Aardman Animations.

The 13-year-old, a pupil at Beeslack Community High School in Penicuik, was one of three winners chosen from more than 4000 entrants.
