Police are appealing for information following two break-ins in Dalkeith on Sunday (March 19).
The first took place at a house in Avenue Road sometime after 1am when entry was forced to the property and car keys stolen from within.
A red Ford Focus, with a personalised plate, and a blue Volkswagen Golf were subsequently taken from the property.
The second break-in took place at the Sainsbury’s in Thorny Crook Terrace around 2.50am.
A three-figure sum of cash, cigarettes and alcohol were stolen from the store.
The Ford Focus was later recovered by officers in the Carberry Court area of Whitecraig around 4.30am.
The Volkswagen Golf was recovered in the Gibson Drive area of Dalkeith area around 4.45am.
Detective Inspector Paul Batten of Livingston CID said: “We’re currently treating these break-ins as linked and are appealing for the public’s help as part of our investigation.
“I’d urge anyone who may have witnessed the break-ins or saw suspicious behaviour in these areas to get in touch as soon as possible.
“Anyone who may have seen the vehicles travelling between these locations is also asked to come forward.”
