Mayfield Community Council is angry after their two local community police officers left just weeks after a fatal stabbing in the area.

Chairman Robert Hogg is “disappointed” that nobody from the police had attended their meetings since 28-year-old man Craig Esson died in November.

Inspector Michelle Ritchie said: “We have a dedicated community officer for Midlothian East and we have committed a community officer to each of the six Midlothian ward areas. We welcome discussing this with members of the community council in person to make sure they are fully updated.”
