Police in Edinburgh have confirmed that the woman found dead in the Chesser area last weekend was 21-year-old Hannah Dorans from Dalkeith.
Officers were called to a flat in Hutchison Road in the capital at 10.25am on Saturday (February 11).
Hannah was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Hannah’s family issued a statement through Police Scotland about their “much loved” relative, and called for privacy as they try to overcome the tragic news.
The short statement said: “Hannah was a much loved daughter, sister and auntie and we are absolutely devastated as a family by her death.
“We respectfully request privacy at this time as we try to come to terms with our loss.”
Detective Inspector Stuart Alexander of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team confirmed that a man had been charged in connection with Hannah’s death.
He said: “This is a very difficult time for Hannah’s family, who we continue to support through dedicated Family Liaison Officers.
“A man has now been charged in connection with Hannah’s death and we’re not looking for anyone else as part of our enquiries.”
A 23-year old man appeared in Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday charged with murder. Frazer Neil made a brief appearance in private before Sheriff Michael O’Grady QC. No plea was made and the case was continued for further inquiry. Neil was remanded in custody.
