POLICE have launched a zero tolerance campaign against off-road motorcycles.

The summer-long initiative will cover the entire county, focusing on hot spots such as the Dalkeith to Penicuik walkway, land around Danderhall, and the network of paths between Loanhead and Roslin.

Community Sergeant Michele Lindsay explained that local police would be using quad and mountain bike patrols as well as plain-clothed officers to clamp down on the antisocial behaviour.

Penicuik sector Inspector Neil Simpson said the campaign would have a “zero tolerance approach”.

In some instances bikes maybe seized by the police.
