Police are investigating two attempted thefts from garden sheds in Bonnyrigg earlier this month.
PC Tom Parker, who is investigating the incidents in Eldindean Road, Bonnyrigg, said: “Although nothing was stolen from either shed, both had been broken into between December 14 and 17.
“I would urge all householders to regularly check the security of garden sheds, outbuildings and garages. It is possible that other sheds in the area have been tampered with and the owners are not aware of it, or have not reported it to police.
“I appreciate it is quite common for people not to use sheds for extended periods of time in winter, however it is important that they are kept secure and checked regularly as they may contain valuable items such as bicycles or garden tools which are attractive to thieves.
“Anyone who saw anything or anybody acting suspiciously in the area or who has any information about these incidents is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
