A dilapidated building which has sparked safety concerns in recent years on Dalkeith High Street is to be extensively restored and repaired.
In December 2010 the High Street was closed for several hours after large cracks appeared on the side of the Blossom Garden Chinese restaurant.
The poor state of the building resulted in a dangerous structure notice being served by Midlothian Council.
However it was announced this week that Dalkeith Business Renewal, a Dalkeith Town Heritage/Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme funding partner, has agreed to allocate funding to ensure that the key building, which is prominently located where the High Street joins Buccleuch Street and Eskbank Road, be given a new lease of life.
