Dalkeith councillor’s political work is in the past

Dalkeith councillor Craig Statham (SNP) plans to spend more time with his family when he stands down on May 3.

The outgoing politician, who lives at Newbattle Abbey Crescent with his wife and two sons, told the Advertiser that juggling the role of councillor with that of a local history officer at East Lothian Council had become “too much.”

He said: “It’s been very difficult doing both. I have boys aged 13 and nine who are growing up quickly and I just felt I was missing out on a lot of that.

“It will be good to get back some family time.”

Craig said he had been involved in a number of successful projects through his constituency work.
