The improvement work in Dalkeith town centre is to be expanded.

In January, work will start to replace the paving in Jarnac Court at a cost of £160,000. The upgrade will involve Yorkstone paving – similar to the stone used on the High Street.

At last week’s cabinet meeting, councillors were advised that there was a £40,000 under spend from the recent High Street works, which, subject to agreement from the original funders, could be used to extend the remit of the project.

Corporate resources director John Blair said there were three options – to leave Jarnac Court as it is and only carry out reactive repairs; replace the area with precast concrete materials at a cost of £100,000; or to lay Yorkstone paving with additional £120,000 funding taken from the capital general services budget.
