A cornucopia of entertainment will be offered at King’s Park this Saturday, when Dalkeith Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Having fostered a spirit of fun, entertainment and community pride since 1962, the festival is still going strong. Many locals will remember colourful processions of floats through the town each year, culminating in a traditional family fun day at King’s Park.
Over the years crowds have enjoyed the likes of ballroom dancing and parachute displays and overindulged in sausage eating competitions, with activities compered by well known Scottish personalities such as Chic Murray, Rikki Fulton, Glen Michael and even the famous Archie MacPherson.
