The Lothian Veterans’ Centre, based in Eskdaill Street, has received £5000 funding from the Scottish Veterans Fund.

A total of £120,000 has been shared by projects across Scotland. Initiatives supported include the provision of bespoke housing advice and information service for disabled veterans, comradeship and befriending events for veterans to combat isolation and promote mental and physical health, and virtual job and careers fairs aimed at SMEs.

The charity was originally founded in 2009 as The Mark Wright Project and moved to Dalkeith town centre in 2013. The centre was officially opened November, 2014.
