Dalkeith woman celebrates 100th birthday

At 100 years young, Dalkeith’s Agnes Lamb was recently presented with a birthday card from The Queen by Deputy Lord Lieutenant Richard Callander.

Alongside family and friends of Agnes, Provost Joe Wallace also attended Pittendreich Care Home to gift her a bouquet of flowers.

Agnes was born in Edinburgh on September 9, 1912. The eldest child in her family, she had a younger sister and six younger brothers. The family lived in Leith, and on leaving school, Agnes worked for a printing firm until she married in 1936. Her husband John lived in Dalkeith, and the couple set up home there, with their two children, May and Alan.
