A Lasswade woman is set to launch her first children’s novel.

Parenting class provider Moira Cormack’s first book is The Witch of Land and Sea.

She said: “I had never written until I went on a creative writing holiday, where I wrote the first bit for this book.

“I didn’t realise I was writing a book at the time. I was completely taken in by it.

“I then joined Tyne and Esk Writers Group, who were a huge help.”

Moira continued: “Six months later I sat down and started to write the book. It’s for children aged 8-15.

“It took a year. I just lived in the story and just wrote and wrote and wrote.

“Then I sent it off and got a publisher straight away. So I was quite lucky.

“I hope it does really well. I’m really pleased with it and I’m hoping that Midlothian will support me.”
