A FAMILY has hit out at a “diabolical” mix up which left a funeral wake with no venue.

Louise Barr (32), from Suttieslea Walk in Newtongrange, had arranged a wake for her mother, Lorna Wallace (66), at the Dean Tavern.

Following a service at Mortonhall on March 18, around 30 family members and friends went on to the Dean Tavern in Newtongrange to pay tribute, but were shocked to find staff unprepared for the wake.

Mrs Barr praised the swift action of staff at the Scottish Mining Museum for accommodating them at short notice, but said she was disappointed with how the matter had been dealt with by the Dean Tavern.

Dean Tavern manager Neil Patterson has apologised for the “mix up”.
