A man who recently had 34 sheep stolen from him ahead of the lambing season has told the Advertiser that he has been left “devastated”.
On the night of February 12/13 34 Texel sheep were stolen from Sauchenside Farm near Edgehead by using a vehicle.
The sheep’s owner, Jamie McPherson (33) of Ayrshire, rented the field from the farm.
He said: “I’m devastated. That’s £5,000 worth of sheep. They were Texel Mules and they were in lambing.
“They are what they call hogs, only eight months old, which added value to them. I had bred them myself.
“I was down to two fields up there already. Now I’m going to have to put an insurance claim in and hopefully they replace them. It’s just one of those things, I can’t do much about it.
“I’m just trying to build up a flock, so it’s a big deal to me.
“I’ve only been back in this game for the past two years.
“This is not going to stop me keeping sheep but it’s a setback.”
