A Bonnyrigg man has come up with a cunning plan to solve the problem of waterlogged sports pitches in the town.

Darius Namdaran (42), of Park Road, hopes to involve at least 200 local primary school children in the creation of a ‘community willow bed’ at King George V Park.

The trainee permaculture designer explained: “Our goal is to use this project as an opportunity for each child to plant a willow tree in their community to help solve a community problem.”
