Midlothian’s Lord Lieutenant visited Macsween last week following the award-winning success of directors James and Jo Macsween.

The siblings recently won the Outstanding Contribution to Scottish Food and Drink Award at the Scottish Food and Drink Excellence Awards.

During his tour of the Loanhead business, Sir Robert Clerk said: “I am keen to know about businesses in Midlothian and to support them in any way that I can. In particular, I like to ensure that they are aware of opportunities such as The Queen’s Award for Enterprise which can be very valuable to award winners in the promotion of their businesses.

“It is helpful to know the people behind the successful enterprises in our area and to try to ensure that recognition is given to those, often not in the public eye, who have been have made a particular contribution to the success and prosperity of their business or employer.”

James Macsween said: “Sir Robert’s family have been customers of Macsween through three generations. My grandfather, Charlie, used to supply his family from the shop in Brunstfield.”
