Penicuik leaders are angry at not receiving a full picture of council plans to develop the former Eastfield Primary School site.
At last week’s meeting, Penicuik community councillors welcomed plans outlined by council officials for a Pentland House replacement to be built on the site.
But they voiced disquiet that the drawings had not shown 31 new social homes and a children’s unit also on the Eastfield Drive land.
Midlothian council’s Eibhlin McHugh said a replacement for Pentland House, a home for the elderly in Edinburgh Road, Penicuik, was due to open in the autumn of 2013.
The current building is no longer fit for purpose. Mrs McHugh said: “It doesn’t meet Care Commission requirements or standards. We are looking at people having individual units called extra care housing.”
