Fears as Midlothian sex case coach is released

The mother of one of the victims of disgraced Loanhead gym coach Mitchell Dolphin has voiced her concerns at news of his early release from prison.

Dolphin was released on licence earlier this month after serving half of a three year sentence.

In September 2009, a jury found him guilty of a number of sexual assaults and lewd and libidinous behaviour towards girls he coached between December 1986 and February 2008.

He was sent to prison in the October and placed on the sex offenders’ register for an indefinite period.

The woman, who cannot be identified to protect the identity of her daughter, said she was still coming to terms with Dolphin’s release.

“You think – where is the punishment and what did the girls go through for him to come out and carry on as normal? It doesn’t seem right.”
