Police are launching their Christmas safety drive in Midlothian to ensure local residents have a safe and enjoyable festive season.
At this time of year, the police want to ensure that all communities have a safe and merry Christmas and will be undertaking a range of initiatives to ensure this is the case and would ask that the public assist by taking the necessary steps, whether in preventing crime or drinking responsibly.
By working with partners, officers will be working to highlight issues such as domestic abuse, antisocial behaviour and theft.
Under Operation Essential, a dedicated team of officers will be working on housebreaking and theft. As part of this, they will go after known offenders and work with partners to raise awareness of the importance of home security to try and deter criminals.
In addition, Operation Equinox will see increased patrols in identified hot spot areas targeting antisocial behaviour and violence.
