First blooms of spring are festival focus

Kevock Garden in Lasswade is taking part in the much-loved Scottish Snowdrop Festival, one of the first events for Homecoming 2014.

More than 50 gardens across Scotland will be open to the public, showcasing their snowdrops. The festival runs until March 16.

Kevock Garden, which boasts a hillside garden, will be open to the public on Sunday, March 2 from noon to 3pm. For further information contact 0131 454 0660.

The festival, now in its eighth year, is a welcome boost for gardens, woodlands and the surrounding tourism businesses as the industry goes through its traditionally quieter months.
