Local community groups and residents are being offered the chance to adopt and maintain flower beds in King’s Park, Dalkeith.
Councillor John Hackett (Lab) is also inviting locals to join him for a discussion about how the council can support volunteering options at parks across the county, starting on Tuesday (July 11) at King’s Park, where three beds have been set aside and there has already been some interest from local groups to support the scheme. The council will provide the flowers for any interested groups.
The King’s Park meeting on Tuesday will be held at the Bowling Green Pavilion at 6pm.
Cllr Hackett (Lab), cabinet member for commercial operations, said: “I am keen to explore how our local communities can encourage and support volunteers to help maintain their local parks.
“This is more than just replacing a shrinking budget – it is about creating a sense of community and building civic pride in our public spaces.”
