A FRESH funding bid is to be made to replace Newbattle Community High School.
Councillors at last week’s full council meeting agreed to submit a case to the Scottish Government for a replacement Newbattle High and investment in the primary school estate.
External consultants will be brought in – at a cost of £18,000 – to help senior officials draw up a detailed affordability study, which will be presented to the council in June.
Submissions must be made to the government by July 21 and the application should include details of unfunded short and medium term school estate investment needs, current funded local authority school building programme, and a commitment to working with the Scottish Futures Trust scheme and other partners.
