Heartless thieves stole a poppy collection tin from a Midlothian pharmacy – just days before Remembrance Sunday.

A Poppyscotland appeal cash holder was taken from the Lloyds Pharmacy at the Newbattle Medical Centre about 4pm last Wednesday.

The Blackcot Drive store was busy with customers all day, so there is no description of the person who took the tin.

It is not known how much money had already been donated to the Scottish Poppy Appeal collection tin, but it is thought to have been around half-full.

Leigh James, a spokesman for Poppyscotland, said: “We are saddened to hear about this.”
