People are being encouraged to get crafty with their Christmas gifts at a new shop in Gorebridge with an old fashioned approach to presents.
Free Christmas crafts drop-in events take place today (Saturday) and the following Saturday (December 20) from 2 - 4pm at the Victorian Christmas Shop at 58 Main Street.
The temporary shop, open throughout December, is part of the Gorebridge Winter Festival and run by a combination of local groups including Gorebridge Cares and Gorebridge Community Development Trust.
Paul Renwick from the trust is happy it has brought groups together and believes it shows a need for more shops in Gorebridge: “We have had a lot of crossover with various groups. Everyone has embraced it.
“It’s going great so far. There was pupils from Stobhill Primary doing arts and crafts last week, and there have been people coming in and buying goods as well. It’s fantastic. It’s important that we have a lively high street.
“In Gorebridge we need more shops on Main Street. I think there is a demand for more shops in general for the centre of Gorebridge.”
