A brand new arts festival is coming to Midlothian in September – and you can get involved in all aspects of the inaugural event.

Although the acts performing are still to be confirmed, ‘Midfest’ will run from September 21-29, covering all forms of art, from performance to painting, at venues all across the county.

Councillor Lisa Beattie (SNP), who has been steering the project, is encouraging local people to get involved.

She said: “Tell me how you want to get involved, whether you are a painter, photographer, musician, dancer, whatever. It could be a comedian for example.

“And it doesn’t have to be a performer, someone might think, ‘hang on, we have a village hall here, couldn’t we offer this space for someone to come along and do something in it’.

“Sponsors can get involved too. Obviously there will be a significant amount of publicity in this so there are opportunities in this for businesses.”

To get involved with Midfest, call 0131 271 3090.
