A PLEA has been made for assurances that a major Penicuik housing development will not turn into a “ghetto”.
Penicuik and District Community Council believes a quarter of the 519 homes planned for Greenlaw Mains are to be set aside for social housing.
To gauge public opinion, the community council displayed the plans in the Penicuik Centre and invited locals to leave comments. This was in addition to hearing the views of 60 people, who attended the February meeting.
Concerns raised with civic leaders over the Taylor Wimpey development include the ability of the local roads to cope with extra traffic, the impact on local schooling and the design of the development layout.
