Loanhead woman Gill Gillan finished what was an emotional final shift at Bonnyrigg Police Station on Friday.

Winding up 30 years as a station assistant in Midlothian, she was presented with gifts from colleagues, as well as an orchid flower and ‘thank you’ card from Bonnyrigg and District Community Council.

The 51-year-old spent 25 years at Loanhead Police Station before moving to Bonnyrigg. She said: “Bonnyrigg Police Station has been a great place to work and I’m sorry to be leaving.”

Gill now works as a public enquiry and support assistant at Tranent Police Station.
