Rosemary Mitchell – deputy head teacher, longest-serving member of staff and former pupil – has retired from Lasswade High School.

The 63-year-old, who from 1963-1969 attended Lasswade as a pupil, returned in 1973 to teach English before becoming deputy head teacher in 1996.

One special colleague whom she met while working at the school is husband Colin Mitchell, who remains a deputy head teacher there.

Rosemary, who lives with Colin in Musselburgh, told the Advertiser that she would not be breaking her ties with the school.
